Stage 4: Accommodation, July 27th, 2007

I spent my time at the youth hostel searching for a flat share and after a uniform set of negative responses, I gave into the comic advert that caught my eye in the first place.

I always remember Craig's stories from his speed dating efforts and how funny it sounded. Not to be outdone, I went speed renting (it is for real; if you don't believe me look at the website). Credit to it, I got the best place in town!

I have a decent double room, share a really nice bathroom with another Brit, Elizabeth, (which by the way has a great power shower and jacuzzi) and a large open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge. One entire side of the lounge is full height windows giving an unrestricted view out to lake Wakatipu.

One classic dialogue between my new landlady and I:
Me:I'm going to head over to Wanaka
Helen:Wanaka? That's quite a drive.
Me:Shouldn't be too bad; driving here from Christchurch was quite a drive. It took about 5 hours.
Helen:5 hours? It's meant to be about 7!
Me:Funny that, I did actually get caught speeding on the way!

Presenting reception with a picture of the mouse will:-
get me gagged & thrown out
get me a free night
get the kitchen closed and annoy everyone
